Aired only once in November 1978, THE STAR WARS HOLIDAY SPECIAL is still the biggest embarrassment in the entire Lucasfilm universe. A disaster waiting to happen, STAR WARS meets the late-'70s variety show phenomenon. With one mind-numbing skit after another, the HOLIDAY SPECIAL subjects you to the likes of Bea Arthur, Art Carney, Harvey Korman, and The Jefferson Starship! Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford look totally flabbergasted, while Carrie Fisher just looks coked-up, especially when she sings along (quite off-key) with the STAR WARS theme song. The only saving grace is an animated sequence that quite nicely fills us in on the events between the first movie and THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK. This sequence marks the first appearance of Boba Fett, proving once again that even when STAR WARS is bad, there's still something that makes it worthwhile.

Also included is the original Kenner toys commercial that aired with this broadcast, and some rare original trailers (including one with Orson Welles narrating!). Also included is a second DVD chock full of great STAR WARS rarities. Among the goodies on this disc are the lost "Biggs scenes" from Episode IV, the very first STAR WARS tie-in commercial (for Burger Chef), the infamous DONNY AND MARIE episode, and a bunch more previously lost STAR WARS ephemera. This two-disc extravaganza is a must-have for any fan out there!
