Here is a totally groovy two-DVD set of Dennis Hopper's early '70s work. On Disc 1 is Hopper's mind-blowing 1971 masterpiece THE LAST MOVIE. A deconstruction of film myths and the filmmaking process, THE LAST MOVIE was dismissed as a drug-fueled mess upon its first release, and Hopper was not allowed to direct in Hollywood again until 1988's COLORS. However, time has been very kind to the film, and it can now be seen as the bold artistic statement it really is!
On Disc 2 is the fascinating documentary THE AMERICAN DREAMER, which finds Hopper at home in Taos, New Mexico, editing THE LAST MOVIE, getting completely stoned, shooting guns, cavorting with various groupies and more. If you are a fan of Dennis Hopper, EASY RIDER, or the "New Wave" of late '60s/early '70s American cinema, this set is a must-have. Two full-length movies for one great price!
