While some '70s TV movies are considered great for their incredible kitsch value, some of them truly are great in their own right. Among the greats is 1970's HOUSE ON GREENAPPLE ROAD, the pilot for the DAN AUGUST series. Fortunately Burt Reynolds, who played August in the TV show, is nowhere to be found, as the hard-boiled plain-clothes cop is played here by Christopher George. Janet Leigh (PSYCHO) stars as a promiscuous housewife who ends up murdered. Or was she? There's a bloody crime scene but no body, and August is hot on the trail of the truth. Featuring the famous opening scene where Eve "Jan Brady" Plumb comes home to find the gruesome mess. Also featuring the always great Ed "Lou Grant" Asner, GREENAPPLE ROAD is a fine Hitchcockian thriller. And this print looks positively wonderful!
