THE PHYNX is one of Hollywood's all-time notorious bombs, and it has a lot in common with SKIDOO. Both feature huge all-star casts (Dick Clark, Richard Pryor, and even Colonel Sanders are in this one); both try desperately to appeal to the counterculture; and both fail miserably. What makes THE PHYNX stand out even more is that not only did they get all these stars to appear in this mess, but most of them even play themselves! The plot concerns a rock band sent to Albania supposedly on tour, but they're really there to fight commies. But you're not likely to notice, as the all-star cavalcade goes by from one gag to the next. Not to be missed, THE PHYNX rises from the ashes to be viewed again.
