Here's a curio we recently came across that apparently caused quite a stir in its day. All the fuss was over approximately five seconds of male full-frontal nudity from young star Jan-Michael Vincent. The future AIRWOLF star plays a young man who is engaged to the prettiest girl in school, but she won't put out until their wedding night. After reading an article in Reader's Digest claiming that such a persistent case of blue balls could be dangerous to his health, Buster hooks up with the town slut, Billie. Buster's friends, who had been making regular visits to Billie, are not too happy that Billie is now unavailable for sexual encounters whenever they feel like it. Tragic results ensue.

BUSTER AND BILLIE was directed by Hollywood vet Daniel Petrie and an uncredited Sidney Sheldon. Sheldon's sense of melodrama is all over this one. Also on board, in his acting debut, is Robert Englund, better known as Freddy Kreuger. While not one of the more "far out" titles in our collection, BUSTER AND BILLIE is an entertaining, well-acted story of love gone wrong that probably no Hollywood studio would touch today, even if the cast and crew worked for free. It's an interesting relic of the freedom that filmmakers enjoyed in the '70s, and is presented here in a sharp-looking transfer to DVD.
