Lost for many years, we are proud to be offering this excellent offering from the ABC Movie of the Week canon. Despite its TV origins, this is a fine little horror film, rich with thrills and character development. This is mostly thanks to director John Badham, who made some of the most consistently inventive TV movies of the era, before breaking into the big leagues as the director of SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER.
Alan Alda turns in a worthy performance as a small-town sheriff dealing with personal demons, while an unknown killer is on a murdering spree, targeting senior citizens. Alda is joined by Louise Lasser (looking like she stepped right off the set for MARY HARTMAN, MARY HARTMAN), who makes for an entertaining foil. Rounding out the top-notch cast are Old Hollywood vets Edmond O'Brien, Will Geer, Lloyd Nolan and HAROLD AND MAUDE's Ruth Gordon. Utilizing the cast's talents to full potential, Badham sprinkles the dark subject matter with a liberal dosing of dark comedy.
This well-regarded movie has long been on the wishlists of many rare movie fans, and finally here is a quality copy for your enjoyment!
